CGG × Ares Elite Sports Vision
Your goalie's eyes and brain decide every save before the body moves. Ares Elite Sports Vision measures the systems that fire every play. CGG calibrates every drill, every progression, every program to that data.
CGG × AESV deliver the most precise, data-driven goaltending development in the game.
Light hits your goalie's eye. The brain reads it. The body responds. Every play. Before technique even kicks in.
Goaltending lives by the same logic. Read the play. Route the signal. Execute the save. Stay synchronized across every play.
Upstream gaps create downstream problems. If your goalie's eyes and brain miss the read, no technique can compensate.
This is the foundation every rep is built on.
Four systems that turn what your eyes see into what your body does on the ice.
What your eyes take in before your brain has time to sort it.
For your goalie: Read the puck, traffic, and shooter cues earlier.
How your brain sorts what you see and decides what to do.
For your goalie: Better decisions under pressure. Fewer false reads.
The signal your brain sends to your body to move.
For your goalie: Right movement, right amount, right time.
Brain, body, and the play moving as one — every second.
For your goalie: Stay locked in through rebounds, scrambles, and chaos.
Every millisecond lost across the loop is a save left on the table. Stack them across a game, a season, a career — and you've drawn the line. Between winning and losing. Between being a good goalie and having a career worth remembering.
AESV isn't a one-off appointment. It's an integrated layer of every CGG program — off-season and in-season — built on a one-time baseline that follows your goalie for the rest of their career.
Every CGG goalie starts with a one-time AESV evaluation — every visual and neurocognitive system that runs every play, measured directly. The baseline persists for the rest of their career.
Your goalie's evaluation drives every drill, every read, every progression. Cam coaches with the visual-cognitive profile in hand — no guesswork, no generic protocol.
Ares Elite protocols layered into every off-ice workout. Same tech. Same data capture. A modified A.R.E.S. training protocol calibrated to your goalie.
Goalies can add one weekly in-office AESV session during summer months, on top of CGG programming. Especially early in training, that extra consistency is what compounds the gains.
Goalies continuing with Ares Elite benefit from the ongoing partnership between Cam and the AESV team as we continue on our mission to deliver the deepest, most data-driven goaltending development plan available.
We're working with the AESV team to expand training access and integration across every CGG program. This is a key partnership for every goalie's long-term success.
A.R.E.S. Certified Performance Vision Trainer™ (CPVT)
The foundational certification for athletics, strength & conditioning, and performance training professionals.
Cam holds the A.R.E.S. CPVT certification and operates inside the AESV system with support from Dr. LaPlaca and the AESV team. CGG isn't referring you to vision training — Cam is reading your goalie's report, building the on-ice and off-ice protocols around it, and integrating progress across the program.

IndyCar drivers and pit crews. NBA officials. Air Force pilots. Hockey goaltenders from youth to pro. Wherever vision decides the play, Dr. LaPlaca writes the playbook.
Not opinion — applied science. Decades of visual-cognitive research, distilled into one coachable framework. Rigorous, measurable, and trainable for every athlete.
Most goalie programs compensate downstream — more technique, more conditioning. CGG addresses the issue at the source. Dr. LaPlaca and his team make this level of precision possible.
Your AESV baseline doesn't sit in a folder. It's the lens we coach through — every drill, every progression, every block calibrated to the gaps your AESV evaluation flags.
CGG bridges the gap between what AESV measures and how your goalie plays the game.
Earlier puck pickup. Cleaner traffic reads. Decisions made before the body has to commit.
The right movement, in the right amount, at the right time — every save sequence calibrated to your goalie's loop.
Technique and strategy land on top of measured systems — not generic protocol stacked on guesswork.

Pick a time on AESV's calendar — their team handles scheduling and payment direct. The evaluation runs with Dr. LaPlaca personally. Have questions first? Email him before booking.
75-minute comprehensive testing with Dr. LaPlaca — in-office or on-site for partner organizations. You leave with your goalie's visual-cognitive baseline.
Dr. LaPlaca and Cam read the report together. Every gap becomes a target. Every target becomes a drill. Then training begins.
You can buy the equipment. You can't buy the system. Dr. LaPlaca built a proprietary progressive overload framework — including the A.R.E.S. Performance Suite — that determines which drills your goalie does, in what doses, in what sequence, and when to progress. The exercises are the easy part. The dosing, sequencing, and training adaptations are the science. That's what AESV owns. That's what every CGG program runs on.
Dr. Joseph LaPlaca, sports optometrist and founder of Ares Elite Sports Vision. He administers the evaluation, designs the visual-cognitive training programming, and runs AESV's industry-leading concussion testing. Ongoing training — in-office, on-site for partner organizations, and tele-training — is delivered by Dr. LaPlaca and the AESV team.

In person at the AESV office in Carmel, Indiana — about 60 to 75 minutes. For organizations partnered with CGG, AESV can also run sessions on-site. The baseline can't be captured remotely — Dr. LaPlaca's diagnostic systems are physical instruments. Follow-up training is available remotely via tele-training.
The CGG Academy requirement triggers at Development tier or age 10. Younger Foundation-tier goalies aren't required to complete an evaluation, though families are welcome to.
The baseline is a one-time setup that persists for your goalie's career. Dr. LaPlaca may recommend periodic retesting based on training response — a conversation between your family and AESV.
Your goalie's evaluation data is HIPAA-protected and stays with AESV. CGG receives the report only after you verify access. Dr. LaPlaca shares it with Cam at your direction so it can inform your goalie's coaching plan. It is not shared beyond CGG.
Past vision work is useful context — bring it to the consultation. But the AESV system is unique, and CGG coaches inside it. The proper set-up process — Dr. LaPlaca's evaluation, the report, the gaps — is what makes the framework work. There's no shortcut.
The evaluation is a performance baseline, not a diagnosis or treatment. As a built-in benefit, it produces a comprehensive picture of your goalie's visual-cognitive systems. Dr. LaPlaca's industry-leading concussion testing makes the baseline clinically meaningful — medical professionals can reference it when diagnosing, recovering, or clearing return-to-play after a head injury. If a head injury occurs, share the report with your medical team.
Book your AESV evaluation. Bring it to CGG. We'll calibrate every rep to your data.
